How to prepare your Tesla

In cold weather, a Tesla will consume more energy, but there are features designed to help mitigate this increase. Total Recon offers tips to optimize your vehicle’s performance on the coldest of days!

• Preconditioning
  • Pre-heat cabin and warm battery from your app for peak efficiency the moment you start driving!
• Watch for the blue snowflake icon
  • A blue snowflake icon indicates your battery is too cold for ideal range.
• Scheduled departure
  • Your vehicle can prepare itslef by determining the best time to start charging and preconditioning
• Address a frozen charge port by activating the defrost feature in the Telsa app
• Leave your vehicle plugged in whenever possible and keep above 20%
• The energy app tracks energy usage while parked to show what systems are consuming energy while stationary (only available with 2022.36 or later)
• Refill washer reservoir with deicer winter washer fluid rated for cold temperatures
• Winter tires are available for every Tesla model
